The smart water bottle

I know that people have different ideas about how much water we should get in a day, but we can all agree that we all need to drink water. If you’re like me and forget to drink enough water during the day because you get distracted by what you’re doing, you could probably need a “drinking coach”. With the BluFit Bottle and its smartphone app, you won’t ever suddenly realize that you’ve let yourself become parched.
The BluFit Bottle is an Indiegogo crowdfunding project for a water bottle that looks similar to others but packs some unexpected features. Electronics in the cap record the amount of water you drink and transmits that information, along with the time, to your phone.
The glass bottle has alert lights (choose the color that will best catch your attention) and audible alarms to let you know when you’re not drinking enough. The phone app uses information about your age and body to determine your water needs; it also monitors the temperature and humidity to adjust your needs based on ambient conditions. (Or you can over-ride these goals and set your own)
The bottle uses Bluetooth LE, and it’s compatible with iOS or Android devices that support it. The developers also plan to make BluFit Data API and Sensor SDK open for developers.
