A yellow sea of solidarity
Sunday 4 June was a day of great joy for those of us from the Ideus team. We had a fantastic day in the intermittent rain of Bilbao, which did not stop almost 3000 participants in the Bilbao Let’s Run 2 from contributing to this charity event sponsored by our brand Ideus, in collaboration with the makers of medical devices connected to your mobile phone, IvyHealth.
We would like to thank everyone who collaborated in any way with the race and, by extension, with the beneficiary organisations: buying bracelets, entering the race, donations, volunteers, etc.

This year, we surpassed the figures for the first edition of the BLR, where we raised 50,000 Euros, donating 60,000 Euros to the following charities: the Bizkaia Association of Parents of Children with Cancer (Aspanovas), the Bizkaia Association for Multiple Sclerosis (Adembi) and the Bizkaia Association for Parkinson’s Disease (Asparbi).
To find out more about how the money raised last year has been invested, please see this infograph.
The different races took place in a festive, family atmosphere. The participants started to arrive at the Guggenheim forecourt, the starting point of the race, at 9 in the morning, colouring the area yellow with their t-shirts.
From children taking part in the infant races, showered with sweets, to the participants in the 5 km march or the more courageous who ran in the most demanding race, 15 km long, everyone made it round their respective courses and thoroughly enjoyed a great day out in charitable spirit.
In addition to the money raised from the entries to the race and the sale of bracelets, three generous and exclusive donations were auctioned at the end of the race, helping to raise even more funds for the associations:
- Alexandre Duncan donated his large format painting “Wake”, measuring 14 metres in height.
- The world champion golfer Michael Campbell donated a 2-night stay at the 6-star hotel Villa Padierna, in Marbella, including two 3-hour golf classes with the champion himself.
- Eneko Acero, international surfing champion donated one of his exclusive surf boards.
- Diego Suárez collaborated with a bottle of Brut Imperial VinDoré, with 24k gold dust.
- The company “Subastas Gran Vía” from Bilbao held the auction free of charge.
For further information about this edition and last year’s edition, please see the race web page, www.bilbaoletsrun.com, or this blog, under the category corporate social responsibility.
As you know, all the funds raised were donated to the above-mentioned associations. Surinder Oberoi, the promoter and driving force behind the event, and who did not stop until the charity event came to a successful end, handed over the cheque.
The second BLR, and its overwhelming success, serve to confirm that this charity event will, without a doubt, be back next year to do even better.
Don’t miss it!!!
